Each academic year – from September through August – the Museum’s Research Center sponsors research in American Modernism. Fellowships are awarded to historians of art, architecture and design, literature, music and photography.
The new slate of academic fellows began arriving in early September!
The fellows come to the Research Center on a daily basis during their time in Santa Fe and focus on their research in their very own office at the Center.
Susan Morgan and Elizabeth “Bess” Murphy arrived at the Center earlier this month. Susan is working on a biography about the Los Angeles-based critic Esther McCoy, who was one of America’s foremost architectural writers and a key figure in mid-century design and American Modernism. Susan will be giving a public lecture early next month. To register, look here: http://www.okeeffemuseumevents.org/adult.html
Lecture by Susan Morgan, Wed., Oct. 8th, 2014, 6 p.m.
Bess is working the education, creative exchange, and rise of Modern Native American art. She’ll be focusing on the work of Lloyd Kiva New and Charles Loloma.
Upcoming lecture dates for Bess and our other incoming fellows will be posted on the Museum’s web site throughout the year at the link listed above.
